Scholarships by Australian Government
  • Australia Awards Scholarships – Applicable for students from developing regions, the scholarship covers their tuition fee and living cost. However, to avail of this scholarship, a student must go back to the home country post completing his/her higher education in Australia.
  • Destination Australia Scholarships – To promote its regional areas, the Australian government offers around 1000 scholarships worth AUD15000 every year to international students in Certificate IV to Doctoral level.

La Trobe University

    • Alumni Scholarship: If you’re a La Trobe graduate, you may be eligible for a 10 per cent fee reduction when you apply for a full-fee postgraduate coursework program.
    • Early Bird Acceptance Grant: If you’re an international student and considering undergraduate or postgraduate study at La Trobe, you could be rewarded for completing your admission process.

Deakin University

  • Deakin India Post Graduate Bursary: 20% on the total indicative fee.
  • Deakin India Undergraduate Scholarship: 20% on tuition fees.
  • Deakin International Merit Scholarship: 20% or 25% discount on tuition fees.
  • Vice-Chancellor’s Academic Excellence Scholarship: 100% student contributions, AUD 5000 cash per year and Vice-Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program, AUD 35,000 to AUD 80,000 depending on the course duration
  • Deakin Vice-Chancellor’s International Scholarship: 100% or 50% on tuition fees plus participation in the Vice-Chancellor’s Professional Excellence Program and priority place in on-campus accommodation (at own cost and subject to availability).

  • Science and Engineering Financial Hardship Bursary: $1,500 for one year, paid in Semester 1 after the census date.

MBA and EMBA Scholarships

  • A tuition fee waiver scholarship, covering a quarter, half or all of your tuition fees.
  • A merit scholarship, awarded at:
    • $500 for a GMAT score of 600-699.
    • $1,000 for a GMAT score of 700 or more.

University of South Australia

  • Vice-Chancellors International Excellence Scholarships: Recipients will receive a 50% reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for the duration of their degree or up to a maximum of four years of full-time study for both UG and PG.
  • International Merit Scholarship: Recipients will receive a 15% reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for the duration of their chosen degree.

Federation University

  • Global Excellence Scholarship: 25% discount on your annual tuition fees for the duration of your program.
  • International Student Accommodation Support Scholarship: Supports students who choose to live in university accommodation in one of their Victorian campuses.
  • International Sports Management Founding Students Tuition Fee scholarship: This scholarship includes $2000 off your tuition fees in your first semester of studies. Offers for this scholarship are made when applying for the program at Federation University Australia.

CQ University

  • The International Student Scholarship (ISS): Available to all new international vocational, research, full degree and packaged academic coursework students at any campus at CQ University Australia.
  • International Student Scholarship Regional: Available from 2023 to all new vocational, research, full degree and packaged academic coursework students at any CQ University regional campus including Adelaide and Perth.

James Cook University – Brisbane

  • International Student Scholarship: UG Students are awarded AUD22,800 and PG students are awarded AUD 16,360.

Charles Sturt – Study Group

Entry Criteria to Study in Australia

In effect as of July 1st, 2016, the Australian Government has simplified the immigration framework for international students who wish to study in Australia. The new framework is called SSVP – which combines all the Student Sub Classes into one Sub Class, i.e., Sub Class 500.

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement

A student applying to study in Australia needs to meet the GTE requirement to pursue higher education in Australia. It is more important for students from high-risk countries, compared to the ones from low-risk countries. International students need to fulfill the following requirement to meet the GTE criteria.

  • Be realistic in your statement of purpose
  • Explain circumstances in your home country
  • Explain why you have chosen the specific education provider
  • Research well on your intended course and its outcome
  • Explain the future value of the course you intend to study
  • Explain Visa / Immigration history
  • Explain why you wish to study in Australia instead of your home country / other countries
  • Provide supportive documents
  • Meet all the necessary financial requirements

Post-Study Work Rights in Australia

Applicable for international students who’ve completed the Australian study requirements and have gained either a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral Degree from a recognized Australian Institute or University. This visa is applicable for the students who’ve applied and are granted student visa on or after 5th Nov 2011. The tenure of PSW visa depends on the kind of degree that a student holds.

  • A Bachelor’s degree with Honours / Masters by course work is allowed a PSW of 2 years.
  • A Master’s Degree in Research is allowed a PSW of 3 years.
  • A Doctoral Degree is allowed a PSW of 4 years.

There could be an increase in the PSW based on the region of studies.

  • 2 years PSW cities: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
  • 3 years PSW cities: Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Wollongong, Illawarra, Geelong and Hobart.
  • 4 years PSW cities: All other regional locations of Australia.

Australian Study Visa Requirement

Here’s a list of documents required for a student visa to Study in Australia:

  • Proof of your enrolment (the electronic Confirmation of Enrollment)
  • A valid passport
  • Visa application fee
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) statement 
  • Academic and work experience documents
  • Evidence of English proficiency test
  • Evidence of financial stability
  • Details of health insurance policy (if any)
  • An effective statement of purpose
  • Passport-size photographs
